It’s nice seeing them get some breaks. There were a few moments when they made mistakes and looked lost but the Canucks didn’t score. During the losing streak those moments led to goals against.
I thought Mark Alt played a steady, solid game. I’m sure he comes out when Gudas is back, but it’s nice to know he could play this way if they need him.
Elliot was really good again.
Raffl looks like a different player.
Thanks Bill. |

Trade Jake. He's holding them back with his awful contract and laziness and bad shot and awful defense. Scoring isn't everything. 3 points and was still +0.
Same with Ghost who is a liability.
And trade Raffl, who's just an average 4th liner.
And when Gudas comes back, well, trade him too!
Giroux is not elite. Couturier is a shutdown 3C. Eugene is a little female dog who needs to stop cozying up to Negan.

Jake 37 points and tied for 3rd in scoring and 4 points behind Stamkos for first. Not bad at all.
Ghost 22 points and 2 points out of top spot for defenseman and less games played.

sit Gudas, let Alt play. Gudas wasnt playing all that well when he went out of the lineup and his act is getting old. |

I blame Saint Ronnie for the Flyers only getting 6 out of a possible 6 points on this road trip. |

Further validation that this team is just young and going through growing pains as designed by hextall. Regardless of opinion of the approach and valid criticisms of some of the coaches decisions |

So much for all that "if they lose all 3 of these games, they will fire Hakstol" talk.
That was fun, right? |

Maybe someone can help me out. Whenever there is a goal reviewed (by either team) for goaltender interference, the replays offer zero help in guessing how it might be called. The GI on Simmonds a few weeks ago that resulted in a No Goal call was far less than the GI on Elliot last night. I figured that would be enough to overturn the goal. Alas, it wasn’t. Elliott had his blocker arm interfered with plain and simple. Am I missing something. Again, help me out... |

Elliott was very good last night.
The one goal he gave up was from poor rebound control, which is something he struggles with consistently.
I know it is a lot to ask of a guy who is a 1B but the way he played last night is what I expect of a player who was brought in to be the guy.

The called the play on Simmonds according to the strict letter of the rule. I watched the replay and in my opinion Elliott was in the crease, the Canucks players stick was on Elliott's blocker possibly preventing free movement so in my opinion it should have been ruled no goal. The only possible excuse that could be offered is that the Flyers defenseman making contact with the Canucks player may have caused that contact. I'd be on the phone to the league offices today for clarification. |

Still not sold on Hak as the head coach I want to see at the helm of this team next year, but I give him full props for getting this team focused and leading them to a western Canada sweep.
I'm also very impressed with the play of and the leadership shown by Brian Elliott on this trip. He was a rock. |
